From a boutique hotel in Rome just steps from the Trevi Fountain to an all-suite resort in Mykonos, here are some of the hottest openings to look forward to this year…
1. Hotel Maalot, Rome, Italy
Located in Rome’s city centre, just steps away from the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and The Pantheon, the highly-anticipated Hotel Maalot will open its doors in Spring 2020 with 30 rooms and a refined Italian restaurant. Guests can expect large shimmering mirrors, soft colours, comfortable sofas and armchairs as well as marble bathrooms. The restaurant feels like a world of its own and has been conceived like an art gallery where many artists will be able to exhibit their work. At the centre of the restaurant, guests will find a beautiful space designed in the style of a winter garden and nestled beneath a majestic glass roof, providing a calm and verdant refuge in Rome’s bustling city centre.
Opens Spring 2020 – room rates will be announced shortly.
2. Torre del Marques, Matarraña, Spain
With its sun-baked hill towns, olive groves and terraced vineyards, Matarraña is reminiscent of Tuscany’s countryside. But unlike its Italian counterpart, this remote corner of Aragon is blissfully away from the tourist crowds and remains one of Spain’s undiscovered regions. Torre Del Marques is a 15th-century farmhouse turned exclusive boutique hideaway with solar panels and sustainable architecture maximising its energy efficiency. The light-filled restaurant strives to embrace an organic ‘zero-kilometre’ approach to dining, serving only food that is produced in the immediate local area including olive oil, black truffle and honey.
Opens April 2020 – rooms start from £320 per night including breakfast.
3. Panoptis Escape, Mykonos, Greece
On top of the hill overlooking the idyllic Elia Beach in Mykonos, Panoptis Escape is the latest addition to the Myconian Collection family. Bound by imaginative contemporary architecture, minimalist styling and artisan craftsmanship, everything about Panoptis Escape is the definition of ‘less is more’. The new property is made up of 19 villa suites, each featuring their own outdoor spa Jacuzzi or private infinity pool. Unparalleled comfort and lavish amenities are provided with the help of an experienced team of staff, here to take care of guests’ every whim from personal chefs and butler services to private helicopter and yacht charters.
Opens May 2020 – rooms start from £617 per night including breakfast.
4. Can Ferrereta, Mallorca, Spain
Located in the quaint rural town of Santanyí in the south east of Mallorca, Can Ferrereta will be one of Europe’s most exciting new hotel openings in summer 2020. The team behind Sant Francesc Hotel Singular has meticulously restored an historic 17th-century building, comprising 32 individually designed rooms and suites, surrounded by verdant gardens. Over the years, Santanyí has attracted many international artists and today art plays a central role. Guests will stumble upon various galleries and workshops in the narrow alleys of this quiet country town. The hotel will also display one of the region’s most exciting collections of contemporary art including works from the likes of Guillem Nadal, Dominica Sanchez, Miquel Planas, Manolo Ballesteros, Riera i Aragó, Jordi Alcaraz and Jaume Plensa.
Opens June 2020 – room rates will be announced shortly.
