The Wellbeing Collection turns one

As the Wellbeing Collection celebrates its first anniversary, we take a closer look at some of the hotels shaping the world’s most restorative wellness experiences. Each is deeply rooted in its sense of place, with the surrounding landscape, local traditions and cultural heritage shaping everything from treatments and food to movement and activities. From Ayurveda in India’s Sahyadri Mountains to Balinese healing practices and surf-led wellbeing on Panama’s Pacific coast, these are the hotels to refresh and restore

Hotel Saltus, South Tyrol, Italy

Saltus brings together stylish mountain minimalism and a distinctly South Tyrolean sense of place. Warm larch, natural stone and red porphyry shape the interiors and architectural features, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Dolomites from bedrooms, restaurants and the hotel’s signature Sky Pools: an indoor pool and a 17-meter outdoor infinity pool filled with natural mountain water. The experience takes cue from the region’s traditions, from seasonal, farm-sourced cooking to weekly vineyard walks and local craft. For more active days, hiking and cycling trails lead directly into the surrounding mountains, while the Forest Spa offers saunas, meditation trails, treatments and glass relaxation cubes overlooking the peaks.

Wellbeing highlight: Saltus’ forest bathing experiences combine mindful walking, breathing exercises and periods of stillness. The practice encourages guests to engage more consciously with their surroundings, making it a particularly fitting expression of the hotel’s holistic approach to wellbeing.

Skýra Retreat, Saarenkyla, Finland

At Skýra Retreat, a restored village schoolhouse and handcrafted log suites bring a warm Nordic sensibility to the enchanting forests of Finnish Lapland. Life here is shaped by the surrounding wilderness and the local appreciation for simplicity, with forest bathing, yoga, sound baths and outdoor experiences encouraging guests to slow down and reconnect with nature. The lake, woodland and changing seasons provide a backdrop for whatever you need in the moment: active exploration or quiet contemplation.

Wellbeing highlight: Skýra’s Nordic Spa embraces the Finnish tradition of alternating intense heat with invigorating cold. Sauna, cold-water immersion and periods of rest combine in a simple ritual designed to awaken the senses and leave the body relaxed.

Zabola Estate, Zabala, Romania

Spread across forests, lakes and meadows in Romania’s Transylvania region, Zabola Estate occupies the grounds of the Mikes family, whose connection to the estate stretches back centuries. Historic buildings, including carefully restored guesthouses and a former machine house, have been thoughtfully adapted with restrained interiors that preserve their architectural character. The surrounding landscape is ideal for scenic hikes or exploring by horseback or carriage, while wildlife, birdlife and ancient woodland remain integral to daily life here.

Wellbeing highlight: Surrounded by 500 hectares of Carpathian forest, Zabola offers a restorative kind of wellbeing, with silence, sauna, cold water, movement and spa rituals all part of the experience.
